Fangirl Stalking Shin Won Ho

While stalking major hallyu stars is a beautiful way to spend a few weeks, sometimes it’s fun to stalk a rising star. One who has some drama credits to his name but who can be effectively stalked in a couple (sleepless) days. One who happens to be a rising k-pop star. One who- oh, I don’t know- has a porcelain baby face and a crush on our favorite mermaid. Fellow stalkers, I give you the play by play of our favorite hacker, Teo-Oh, otherwise known as Shin Won-Ho.

When he’s not playing the strong, silent, adorable type, he goes by Shin performing with the multi international boy band, Cross Gene, is an award winning model, a guitar player, and is a regular on the Japanese radio show Aja Aja Friday on FM Yokohama 84.7.

Oh, and his first TV debut was with one of my favorites, G-Dragon. Good way to get a career started, in my humble opinion. Here’s the 30 second commercial:

I’ll save a little more k/j/c-pop for the end. For now, let’s get to the drama watching.

The Rules of Fangirl Stalking:

We will start with the dramas I think are must watch works by the actor.  Followed by the shows that could go either way.  This means that they are worth watching in my opinion, but I know there are some people who don’t like the genre.  Lastly, we will cover the dramas/movies that you really could skip and not miss much (at least in regards of the actor featured).  These are the shows that are for die-hard fans who want to watch everything.

And now… Shin Won Ho!

Must

Legend of the Blue Seashin4

I am adoring this drama. The cast is amazingly talented. Some of the locations are just gorgeous. The storylines have been enjoyable. And, HALLELUJAH!– the mermaid costume a la H2O is legit.

It features Shin as the always blushing, fantastically loveable hacker sidekick to Lee Min Ho. He’s like that bag of chocolate you have stashed in your nightstand (yeah, like I’m the only one who does that) that you pull out to feel better about the world. For more about this show, look through our drama recaps.

Maybe

If you’re watching Big solely to ogle Shin, you’re going to enjoy the first few episodes of Big. You get a peek at him every once in a while afterward but his moments of glory are really just in the beginning.

Big, which is nothing like the Tom Hanks Big, is a body swapping drama starring the drool-worthy Gong Yoo. It also features Bae Suzy as a hilarious stalker ex-girlfriend.

I’d recommend it but it’s not for everyone; especially if you’re not a fan of the Hong Sisters theme-wrapping-up often unsatisfying endings.

Remember the witchy killer woman from Legend of the Blue Sea? Yeah, she’s in this one, too. As an actress, she’s got chops but as a character I hate her. In fact, I’m tempted to fangirl stalk her because surely she can’t be a horrible person in EVERY. SINGLE. SHOW. Can she?

It also features Lee Kwang Soo from Running Man and It’s Okay, That’s Love. He’s brilliantly awkward, like normal.

Shin again plays a secondary character but he’s a regular throughout the bazillion episodes. He plays, appropriately, the cast off member of a boy band. He also seems to talk more in this drama than in all his other dramas combined.

I’ve seen the reviews and I know that this was a much-loved drama but I put it in the Maybe category because, honestly, I just never really fell in love with it. Ji Chang Wook, yes. Jeon No Min, yup. Kim Young Kwang, would someone pass the tissues, I’m drooling over here. But the show? Not my favorite drama to spend 24 hours on. However, it would be worth your time to find out if you like it yourself.

Meh

There are a few titles that Shin is supposed to have appeared in but I haven’t been able to find them anywhere. Maybe they belong here but I have no way of knowing. If you’ve seen Run 60- Game Over, ZEDD, Shuriken Sentai Ninninger, Secret Message, or Happy Marriage?! drop us a line and let us know where you think they belong on our list and where to find them.

CLKYTTA: Popping in to say that I knew I’d seen him around!

Secret Message-He plays a creepy guy in this one, and he was really convincing as a creepy guy.  Honestly, it’s worth it to watch him in this just to see him act like an “animal”.

We Got Married, Global Edition Season 2- He is one of Key’s friends and he was pretty adorable in this.  It’s always fun to watch when the idols hang out.

Band Bonus!

The band Cross Gene is made of up 4 South Koreans, 1 Chinese, and 1 Japanese member and is contracted through the Korean branch of the Japanese company Amuse. The band isn’t on par with my favorites EXO, BTS, or Big Bang but they’re decent and have room and time to grow. We’ll have to just watch and see where they go.

In the meantime, here’s a video of Cross Gene performing one of their songs as well as a cute video of Shin on his birthday. “Coffee!”

Alasseo, alasseo… you’ve talked me into another video. The manboy can sing so we should let him.

  2. He catches my attention each time he is in a scene. I am happy to have more opportunities to stalk this rising star. Thanks for taking on this sleuthing project for the common fan girl good.

  3. I really liked him in LOTBS, and didn’t realize that he also played the bodyguard hired by the 2nd female lead in Happy Marriage?!. That role was a very small part and he doesn’t say much. His band Cross Gene did the Theme Song for Happy Marriage?!, which is quite catchy. Here’s a link to the song from youtube:
